Separation of Acive Chemical Components Against Sarcoma 180 from Stembark of Catalpaovata

Abstract

|
The methanolic extract from stembark of Catalpa ovata(Bignoniaceae) showed a cytotoxic activity on Sarcoma 180 cell lines.
In order to isolate the active compound, a systemic separation was performed.
The result was that chloroform and hexane fraction showed a marked cytotoxic activity.
Active compounds in these two fractions were separated and identified as a-lapachone and 9-hydroxy-a-lapachone and 9-methoxy-a-lapachone.
